Hortiwool utilizes the naturally-occuring properties of wool to create an ideal growing environment for hanging plants, retaining moisture to nurture roots and providing insulation to regulate soil temperature, while still maintaining necessary permeability. Sized to fit up to 16″ hanging baskets (simply cut and shape to fit), Hortiwool provides a great alternative to coco coir liners.

While you wouldn’t wear a wool sweater in the height of summer, it could be just the thing to get your hanging plants through the dog days, keeping the soil from drying out and the roots from baking in the sun. Then, when sweater weather finally does arrive, with shorter days and cooler nights, Hortiwool’s insulating properties allow your hanging plants to stay up longer — and let you coordinate outfits by wearing your own wool sweater!

Even when the time comes to take down your hanging baskets for the season, Hortiwool isn’t finished providing benefits. It is 100% compostable, so you can break it up and add it to your garden to sow additional nutrients in the soil, or leave it out for birds and other critters to use as nesting material. With all the advantages of growing with Hortiwool, you may want three bags full!

Note: Because it’s all-natural, the lanolin oil in Hortiwool may produce some “all-natural” smells after extended use. But don’t be sheepish — all Hortiwool products are washed and scoured to remove any contamination!
